A specialized opportunity is available for an experienced Registered Nurse skilled in Operating Room nursing, specifically with orthopedic procedures, at a surgical hospital featuring 11 OR suites and 1 GI suite. This contract role focuses on delivering exceptional perioperative care in a high-volume setting performing 30 to 50 cases daily.
Key Responsibilities:
- Circulate as an OR nurse primarily supporting orthopedic cases including total joint replacements (hip, knee) using advanced MAKO robotics, arthroscopy, spine, foot and ankle, hand surgeries, and ORIF procedures.
- Assist with general surgical cases including ENT, gynecology, and plastics as needed.
- Collaborate with surgical teams, ensuring patient safety and efficient workflow in the OR.
- Adhere to facility protocols including badging in/out and standardized scrub attire provided onsite.
- Participate in 1-2 weekday call shifts and approximately 1 weekend call shift during the 13-week contract. One late shift per week may be required to cover staffing shortages.
- Float across units or departments when necessary to support operational needs.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Current RN license in South Dakota or compact state.
- Minimum 3-4 years recent circulator experience in an OR setting.
- Strong orthopedic surgical experience with comprehensive knowledge of total joint and arthroscopy procedures.
- ACLS (AHA) and BLS (AHA) certifications are mandatory.
- Robotics experience highly preferred; MAKO experience strongly desired.
- Clinicians who have previously worked for the associated health system must have an employment end date at least six months prior to application.
